The definition of cliche

August 6, 2010

A cliche is any statement that’s repeated over and over again without any action behind it.

We repeat the statement over and over again because it’s true… or at least we think it’s true.

We don’t do much about it, though, probably because it’s difficult or simply too general to do anything about.

That tension between us saying it’s true but not acting like it is what creates the cliche.
